USQ Bookcase is back

Calling all authors, writers, readers and lovers of books! USQ Bookcase – a writers’ festival I am pleased to have helped organise at the University of Southern Queensland in Toowoomba last year – is returning in 2015. This time over two great days. So be sure to mark Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 July 2015 in your calendars!

This year USQ Bookcase will return bigger and better with more workshops covering a greater variety of writing styles and genres, panel discussions, book signings and market stalls. From novels to poetry, memoir, biography, short stories and everything in between, the festival will offer something for everyone.

In the lead-up to the 2015 festival, we’ll host a week of book-related events including book launches, workshops and competitions. This year we’re also teaming up with the organisers of the Bruce Dawe National Poetry Prize and the Get Writing Prize, announcing the winners live on stage on Sunday 19 July.

2014 Event Overview

The first-ever writers’ festival to be held in Toowoomba, USQ Bookcase 2014 successfully grabbed the attention of the region. More than 400 people attended the one-day event participating in eight free writing workshops and mingling with authors, publishers and editors at the 13 market stalls.

Some big names have already signed-up to present at USQ Bookcase 2015, with announcements being made in the coming weeks. So stay tuned to our website and Facebook event page for details of the 2015 USQ Bookcase program.

In the meantime, you can see the 2014 program and presenter list and view the video from the day.
